  • What condition does my vehicle have to be in to donate it?

    We will take your car whether it is running or not. In any condition.

  • Do I need a smog certificate or safety inspection in order to donate my car?

    We’ll be happy to accept your car donation even if it failed a smog test. We will take care of smog and inspections. At pick up you will be given a receipt that releases you from future liability for you donated vehicle.

  • What paperwork do I need to donate my car?

    o The title/pink slip
    o Registration

  • What if I don’t have my title/pink slip?

    No problem, we have all the DMV documents to complete the process.

  • Do I have any liability issues to worry about and who transfers title?

    We will handle all transfer documents according to your local state Department of Vehicle Services guidelines. On drop off or pick up, you will be given a receipt that releases you from future liability for you donated car.

  • What are the benefits of donating my car to a non-profit?

  • Will there be any cost to me?

    No, we will take care of all the paperwork, DMV and other documents.

  • What about Tax deductions?

    You may be able to write off full market value for the vehicle donated. Please consult your tax person/accountant for tax implications.

  • Is my donation tax deductible?

    Yes you will receive a IRS 1098C document. IRS requirements for charitable donation, any pdfs/whitepapers and anything else you know is important to the process.

  • Who do I contact to schedule a pick up or drop off?

    One of volunteers will contact you and make all the arrangement as to where and when to complete the transaction. Depending on the vehicle we will either make arrangements to meet at the Irvine campus or pick the vehicle up from your home or business.

  • What areas do you service?

    We have complete flexibility as to service area but typically Orange and Los Angeles County’s are our areas of service.

  • What is the procedure?

    As mentioned above, the process is very simple. Call and leave a message on our Car Ministry hotline (949-769-8478). or send an email to carministry@marinerschurch.org or contact any staff person at the church. We will call you as quickly as possible and make all the arrangement for the donation.
